Obituaries
Mourning our dead is one of the oldest and most important functions of a society; but it is one that tragically too many members of our overlooked communities miss out on - either the opportunity to do so for their friends and family, or at their own passing. We offer this section - with as much information as possible and certainly in the Dorothy Day spirit that “anything worth doing is worth doing poorly” - to try our meager best to show our friends and neighbors the dignity in death that we know every person possesses.
Judith Krall
Judith Anne Krall, 87, passed away peacefully at home on June 24, 2026.
Born on August 28, 1938, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Judith was the daughter of Anne and Albert J Cupps.
She was a lifetime resident of Pinewild in Pinehurst, North Carolina, where she enjoyed many years surrounded by friends and neighbors in her book clubs, golfing groups, widow’s group, and her wonderful work as a master gardener. She was a member of Village Chapel, where she served for many years on the flower guild sharing her love of flowers with everyone she met.
Throughout her professional life, Judith worked as a real estate broker, a career through which she built lasting relationships and served her community with deduction. She also had a great affinity for NAMI (National Alliance for the Mentally Ill.) She started the chapter in Wheeling, West Virginia where she served as its first President and went on to become the President of the West Virginia State NAMI.
Judith was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 54 years, Jess Krall; her son, Tracy Krall; and her daughter, Alice Jene Krall. She is survived by her son Jesse K. Krall of Wheeling, West Virginia.
In accordance with her wishes, no memorial service will be held at this time. Her cremated remains will be placed in the memorial garden at The Village Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Judith’s memory to The Village Chapel, 10 Azlea Road, Pinehurst, North Carolina 28374, or to NAMI of Greater Wheeling, Inc., P.O. Box 6027, Wheeling, West Virginia 26003.

Born: Sept 22, 1982
Dwain was a good friend of so many in Wheeling. He was a sports fan. His team was the Alabama Crimson Tide. Roll Tide!
He was committed to his love, Heather, and to his friends. Heather drew the absolutely beautiful memorial to Dwain, that was signed with messages of love from countless of his friends.

Lamont Carrol Walters
Lamont, 59, of Moundsville, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, July 11, 2026. He was born June 16, 1967, in Glen Dale, a son of Carroll and Sylvia (Stargen) Walters Sr. Lamont was a hard worker at Wheeling Linen for many years. He was a great son, brother, loving father and Paw Paw. Lamont was also a veteran of the United States Navy.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Carroll E. Walters Jr.; and a sister, Shelly Walters.
Left to cherish his memory is his parents; children, Taylor August, Paige August, Casey Plants (Chris Flati) and Tayvon Walters; grandchildren, Jaxxen and Avah Walters and Leilani and Channel Flati; sisters, Melissa Walters Pugh and her children, Shylea Walters and Isreal Pugh; and Mesa (Stanley) McGonigle Flowers; a brother, William Scales; special cousin, Eddie Stargen; nephew Dasani Vingio and many nieces, nephews, and Walters and Stargen family members.
A Memorial Service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are entrusted to Wilson Funeral Home, 920 National Rd., Brookside.
In January, human remains were found in a lot in South Wheeling, and as of now they remain unidentified.
